Surgery Super Heroes Donation Fund

Surgery Super Hero

As a specialty veterinary practice, we strive to help and care for all deserving animals. However, the cost of providing specialty orthopedic surgical care is often expensive because of surgical implants and equipment and the duration of many procedures. Over the past years we have dedicated more of our time and resources to helping needy animals and people. We’ve been working with many of the rescue groups and the local humane societies to help adoptable loving dogs and cats find homes.

We also find situations outside of the rescue groups that need our assistance. We have performed needed surgeries for veterans with PTSD, people with disabling diseases and families with ill children, whose pets mean more than can be imagined. Many of these wonderful animals have required fracture and ACL repairs as well as management of hip and elbow dysplasia. All of the surgeries performed under such circumstances have been performed at or below our break-even costs and many completely free of charge. Because of our passion to help, we have started a donation fund called Surgery Super Heroes Donation Fund. We are reaching out to our good, like-minded friends and clients to ask for your support. All funds raised will be directly used for needy pets and owners that are unable to pay for surgery and all surgeries in such cases will be performed at or below our cost. We will of course continue to help as much as we are able, but your financial help means so much to these sweet animals that need a SUPER HERO like you!

We invite you to meet a some of the pets we've helped below. To donate securely, please complete "BE A SUPER HERO" form.
  • Freya

Freya is a service dog for one of our military heroes here in Colorado. After being placed with a very deserving veteran, it was discovered that she had bilateral ACL tears. After TPLO surgeries on both legs she was able to return to her real job: being a companion to her soldier.

  • Beans

Beans was found by the side of the road by a good Samaritan. She was brought to us and X-rays revealed a dislocated hip. Dr. Bauer repaired her dislocation and she was adopted by a wonderful family.

  • Peanut

Peanut was brought to us by Rocky Mountain Collie/Sheltie Rescue. Her x-rays revealed radial and ulnar fractures. Following repair she became the happiest, loving dog with her new mom and dad.

  • Lacey

Lacey was a Mill Dog Rescue who came to us with a very severely comminuted radial and ulnar fracture. Dr. Swainson performed her surgery and she had to wear a cast for months. When the cast came off, she was healed completely and able to run and play in her new home.

  • Duke

Duke was brought into the Humane Society as a stray with severe hip dysplasia. It was determined that he would need surgery to relieve the pain and he was sent to us. A femoral head and neck resection was performed, and he found his forever home soon after his recovery.

  • Hershel

Hershel came to us from the Humane Society. He had been hit by a car which caused a mid-shaft humeral fracture. He was very scared and nervous, but immediately became best friends with Dr. Bauer. His fracture was repaired and he found his forever home as a happy, healthy puppy.
