Arthroscopy of Canine Elbow Joint

In days of old, veterinary surgeons surgically opened canine elbow joints for inspection, diagnosis and treatment. The problems were the approach was small and visibility was very limited, not to mention the surgical approach often resulted in joint instability and progressive arthritis. Today, it’s hard to imagine canine elbow surgery without the use of arthroscopy. In fact many problems can be diagnosed and treated completely with arthroscopy alone. Most patients are so comfortable following arthroscopy that they are able to go home the day of surgery.
