Therapeutic Exercise for Canine Rehabilitation

Therapeutic exercise is a foundational component of canine therapy. Here at the Canine Rehabilitation and Arthritis Center we are committed to developing an individualized therapeutic exercise program for every dog we treat. Additionally, with over thirty years of experience in developing exercise programs, our staff is able to progress and modify each exercise session to advance at the speed and comfort level of each pet.

High level core and leg strengthening exercises

We establish a step-by-step progression of exercises for your dog designed to:

  • Increase leg and core muscle strength
  • Increase muscle flexibility
  • Increase joint mobility
  • Increase balance and coordination
  • Increase overall endurance
  • Normalize walking

In therapy we have fun and challenging exercise equipment for your dog including discs, balance boards, peanuts and much more to reach the desired goals of each pet. Therapeutic exercise is a critical component of the rehabilitation process for dogs who have had back surgeries and hind leg weakness. Following knee, elbow and hip surgeries, exercise routines assist to improve mobility and strength of those involved joints. Advanced exercises help our sports and performance dogs build strength and endurance to take them to the next level of competition. Practicing specific exercises also benefit dogs who are overweight or dogs who suffer from joint pain due to osteoarthritis, trauma or age related deficits.

Additionally, we specialize in instructing each owner with a home exercise program that they can follow through with at home to compliment the sessions at Canine Rehabilitation & Arthritis Center.
